Help Emily Denny Fight Ovarian Cancer
Donation protected
As many of you have heard, Emily was recently diagnosed with stage 3 Ovarian Cancer (LGSOC).
In November 2021, Emily was in between jobs when she began having severe stomach pain. After countless tests, screenings, and doctor's appointments, she was scheduled for an exploratory laparotomy one week before Thanksgiving. When her results came back, it was not the news that we were all hoping and praying for. She was diagnosed with stage 3 low-grade serous ovarian carcinoma (LGSOC). Currently, 9 weeks later, she is still healing from her surgery and is preparing for an 18-week chemotherapy treatment. Despite the shocking diagnosis, Emily continues to stay positive and determined in her fight against ovarian cancer.
Ovarian cancer is unfortunately largely understated and often goes undiagnosed until an advanced stage. It is a silent attacker that isn't tested for during women's 'annual check-ups'. The typical ovarian cancer patient is over the age of 50.
Emily is only 26 years old. She was born and raised in Ridley Park, PA along with her identical twin, Hannah. They graduated from Ridley Senior High School in 2013. Emily went on to study Occupational Therapy at Philadelphia University and Thomas Jefferson University, where she earned her master's degree. In 2020, she moved to Delaware to fulfill her dream of becoming an Occupational Therapist. She was supposed to begin a new job in January 2022 but was unable to start due to her sudden diagnosis and emergency surgery.
Emily is facing much larger than average medical expenses, while unable to file for unemployment and in-between jobs. We hope you will join us in continuing to support her journey and encourage you to share her story/link through social media.
Emily is an adored daughter, sister, cousin, niece, granddaughter, friend, therapist, and devoted Christian. In her free time, she enjoys creating art and spending time with her friends and family. She's also heavily involved at her church with service projects.
To say that we feel blind-sided and that our hearts are broken is an understatement. Thank you all so much for your prayers, love, and support as Emily bravely continues her battle with ovarian cancer.
