Help Emily Fight Sarcoma: A Journey of Hope and Healing

Hello, everyone. My name is Rayann, and I'm reaching out to you with a plea for help for my best friend, Emily and her husband Milos. They’ve always been the kind of people who never ask for help, but unfortunate circumstances have led us to this point where we have no choice but to seek support from our community and beyond.

Let me tell you a bit about Emily. She's a remarkable woman, 31 years old, happily married to Milos for five years. They are high school sweethearts, being together for the past 18 years. They have two beautiful pups, Honey, their 14-year-old Chihuahua, and Zeus, their 1.5-year-old German Shepherd. They cherish spending time together, especially enjoying nature and fishing whenever they can—it's their way of finding peace and relaxation amidst life's challenges.

Their journey took an unexpected turn in October 2021 when Emily successfully became pregnant after three years of trying. They were overjoyed, eagerly anticipating this new chapter in their lives. However, their happiness was shattered when Emily experienced a miscarriage at nine weeks in December 2021. Despite the heartbreak, Emily's resilient spirit remained, holding onto hope for the future.

In January 2022, Emily began experiencing chest pain, which led to a harrowing journey of medical uncertainty. Initially misdiagnosed with symptoms resembling COVID-19, further tests revealed a 5.5cm tumor in her abdomen—a diagnosis of Synovial Sarcoma, an incredibly rare form of cancer. The subsequent months were filled with hospital stays, painful treatments, and the emotional rollercoaster of uncertainty.

After successfully being declared cancer-free following surgery in June 2022, Emily's resilience carried her through until December 2023 when another heartbreaking miscarriage at nine weeks unveiled the presence of yet another tumor in the same location. Promptly, in January 2024, Emily underwent another surgery, emerging cancer-free once again. However, the recent CT scan on April 16th revealed a distressing development—the cancer has returned for a third time, this time spreading to two parts of her liver.

Throughout this challenging journey, Emily's unwavering determination has been a guiding light. Despite the setbacks, she remains steadfast in her pursuit of healing. Now, faced with limited options, Emily is actively exploring alternative treatments and seeking opinions from specialists worldwide. These include potential avenues such as immunotherapy and IV therapies, offering hope in the face of adversity.

The weight of the financial burden is substantial. Depleted resources, compounded by the anticipated future medical expenses associated with pursuing treatment options beyond their borders, along with the high costs of consultations, treatments, and travel, have left them in a state of financial strain. Despite their earnest efforts, their diminished income due to disability and dwindling savings pose significant challenges in meeting even their most fundamental living expenses.
