On Boxing Day, my sister Emily Grogan-Adi, like many Canadians hit the tobogganing hill with her daughter to celebrate the winter weather. Emily and her family had just returned to Bradford, Canada from Africa, where she had lived for 6 years, in the summer of 2020. On December 26, 2020 Emily's hope was to introduce tobogganing to her 5-year old daughter who was just discovering snow.
Unfortunately, what was supposed to be a fantastic family afternoon turned tragic when Emily's toboggan spun backwards and she hit an electrical tower (at Fuller Heights Park in Bradford ON). Emily sustained 5 fractures to her vertebrae, 3 rib fractures, a pneumothorax and blood in the lungs. She is currently in traction at St. Mike's Medical Centre awaiting a prognosis and direction for treatment.
With her family having just returned to Canada, they have been working to get their feet under them and Emily's husband was scheduled to start a new job two days after the accident.
Thank you for your consideration in helping my sister and her family!
