Help Emily Kick Cancer's Ass (it's expensive)

If you don’t know her (although I’m sure many of you do), let us tell you a bit about Emily. She’s a lover of dad jokes, a good g + t and will never say no to an adventure. She is the only one of us who understands how to make a tik tok (a good one), can put on a killer Irish accent, and her writing can bring most to tears (laughter, sometimes sadness). She also is the only one of us who knows what it truly feels to rock a bald (perfectly shaped) head at Walmart or how to navigate Jim Bob’s Saturday night after having surgery on her shoulder.
2020 was a shit year for everyone, but Emily’s was truly a triage of nightmares. Having beat cancer seven years ago, she was re-diagnosed last year, her cancer (Ewing Sarcoma) creeping up from her ribs to the outside of her heart. If you follow Emily’s story on her blog or social media, you know that this didn’t stop her from taking hold of her life, living for those small moments and even larger adventures. Emily isn’t the type of person to ‘give up,’ to wallow in self-pity or not attend that upcoming girls' weekend following chemo. No, she had the inner strength to sit through chemo treatments alone (thanks to covid), go through a second round of surgery, and still decide to take that trip to Ireland that she has been putting off for years. Unfortunately, even after 2020 took away her dog, and cancer took away the use of her shoulder, hair, health, and job, she was diagnosed terminal in November 2021.
Many of us don’t even consider the financial burden of cancer. Medicine and care are expensive, especially when you’re no longer well enough to work. While she is currently seeking government aid, it's a long and grueling process that won’t provide relief in the short term. Knowing she only has ‘months to live’ according to her doctors, we, as her team, believe that can turn into years if she has the support and assistance necessary to provide some relief. We want to help with meal services, rides to her appointments, medication, and other daily expenses. With your help, we want to do everything we can to alleviate that financial burden so she can focus on living, on chasing those happy moments and mini-adventures. Let’s show Emily how much we are with her.
