Help Emily with her long recovery
Donation protected
Our friend Emily Quattrocchi had just been on a trip of a lifetime to Cambodia, volunteering with the Cambodian Clean Water & Toilet Project digging toilets for local Villages.
Just days after arriving home, Emily was involved in a life changing car accident just outside of Euroa, which saw her being flown to Melbourne and kept in an induced coma for close to 2 weeks while her poor body tried to do some healing.
Emily is now off the strong sedation and is alot more awake. She has a machine helping her breath through a tracheotomy at the moment and is unable to speak because of this. Emily does recognise family and is communicating non-verbally, which is a very promising sign.
Unfortunately Emily has spinal cord damage at T4 and is now paraplegic. She is able to move her Arms and Hands but she is still weak and has limited movement due to 6 broken ribs, broken clavicle and fractures in her neck. She also has a neck brace on while they heal over the next 8 weeks. Emily had surgery on her back the day after her accident to stabilise her spine, so it's fair to say that a once very active 24 year old is going through hell and back right now.
Emily's mum Lyn and other family members have been by Emily's side since this horrible accident, and will be in Melbourne over the next 6 months during her rehabilitation.
I am starting this Fundraising Effort in the hope that our great little community can come together for Emily and her family, as there so many unexpected costs that have arisen due to the extent of Emily's injuries - Extended Accommodation for Lyn in Melbourne, Equipment, Modifications & Unknown ongoing costs for Emily.
Any donation will be gratefully received and hopefully help ease the stress in some small way.
Thanks in advance.
