Help Emma and her family battle Leukemia
Donation protected
Emma McKeachnie is a vibrant, smiling 9 year-old from Sault Ste. Marie who loves to dance, draw, and spend time with her family. In July 2024, she experienced a shock that would change the course of her life and those of her family members. After persistent health issues raised concern at the local hospital, Emma was flown to London, Ontario where she was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (T-ALL).
Emma’s days immediately became a whirlwind of long days at the hospital, uncomfortable treatments, and exhaustion. Her Nana Chrissy is by her side everyday, along with her 10-year old sister. Their hearts are heavy with worry but filled with hope. Today, Emma’s positive energy and bravery light up the room at Ronald McDonald House, where she stays with her sister and Nana for about 9 months. She is currently in remission but will continue treatment in London until Spring 2025 to ensure she remains cancer free for as long as possible.
Long after Emma’s initial treatments are over, she will continue to travel with family to London, Ontario on a regular basis for follow-ups. Emma will travel to London for medical care for the rest of her life.
Encouragement and emotional support that Emma, Ava and Chrissy experience at Ronald McDonald House and from friends, neighbours and family back home has been incredible during this dark time. However, with mounting costs, Emma’s family is asking for help from the community. During this time Emma’s family has experienced significant financial burden due to the loss of wages and costs they continue to incur. This fundraiser aims to help support Emma’s family during this difficult time and help alleviate some of the financial stresses that they are experiencing.
Your generosity can make a world of difference for Emma and her family. Every donation, no matter the size, helps lighten the financial burden of giving Emma the care she needs. Together, we can lift some stress from this family’s shoulders and allow them to focus on what matters most – being there for our Emma.
Emma dreams of returning home and looks forward to getting back to school with her friends. She hopes that in just a few more months, she will return to her life in the Sault and that things will look and feel a little more normal. Emma, with her unwavering spirit, faces this with bravery that inspires everyone around her.
Although Emma’s journey is far from over, with your help, her family can rest a little easier while they provide the courageous support needed to help Emma through her journey with cancer. Please consider donating and showing Emma and our family that they are not alone during this difficult time.
Please donate today and be a part of Emma’s story. Your kindness can bring hope, alleviate stress and bring strength to Emma’s caregiver. Thank you for standing with Emma and our family in this time of need.
