Help Emma Regain Her Sight

Dear friends, family, and animal lovers,

I’m reaching out because my dog, Emma, is in desperate need of help. She’s developed cataracts and is now almost completely blind. This all started when Emma was put on steroids to treat a rare autoimmune disorder called pemphigus foliaceous. Unfortunately, the medication caused her to develop diabetes, which then led to cataracts. The vets never fully explained the risks, and now Emma is living with the consequences. The fault isn’t all on the vet—I wish I had spent more time researching. I’m doing everything I can to give her the life she deserves, but I need help to make that happen.

Just recently during our second visit to this eye vet, Emma underwent several tests to see if she qualified for cataract surgery. Thankfully, both of her eyes meet the criteria, though her left eye is at a much higher risk for developing glaucoma sooner than later. Without surgery, Emma will lose her sight completely, and the chance of glaucoma will increase, requiring various medications to help manage it for the remainder of her life.

She needs to see two different surgeons. The total cost of pre-surgery, surgery, and aftercare is around $10,000. The expenses are overwhelming, and I’m asking for your help to give Emma her sight back and prevent further health complications.

Emma came into my life after I spent some time searching through adoption sites. She was part of a litter of six puppies, and they all looked alike. When I went to meet them, I was told Emma had already been adopted. I was devastated! Her other siblings were being held by others, except for one. While her siblings were busy whining and whimpering, she was curled up silently in the corner of the kennel. I asked to hold her. She was so tiny, about the size of a large potato, and completely quiet. As soon as our eyes met, I knew she was meant to come home with me. I decided to name her after one of her sisters—Emma.

Growing up, Emma has always been full of energy and adventure, traveling across multiple states and hiking with her furry friends. She absolutely loves humans and animals alike. But now, she mostly wants to stay inside and often runs into things when simply going out to potty. While she’s adapting as best as she can, it’s heartbreaking to see her like this. More than anything, I want to help her get her sight back.

Anyone who has met Emma knows she has a loving and joyful energy. I used to watch dog and animal movies with her, and she would always notice the animals on TV right away. Restoring her vision would mean the world to her—and to me. Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference.

Please help us reach our goal so that Emma can live the rest of her life seeing the world as the happy, healthy dog she deserves to be.

Thank you for your kindness and support.

With gratitude,
Aaron
