Help Emmett And His Family Make Memories

Hi, my name is Angela. I am asking for your help to donate funds for a family special to me.

Steph & Andre are parents to Sophie 5, and Emmett 4. My daughter and Sophie have been best friends since they first met at daycare when they were 12 months old. Since then we have all become inseparable and have enjoyed spending many weekends and holidays together.

As Emmett got older the family started noticing some delays in his development and had been taking steps to determine the reasons why.

Right before Thanksgiving 2023, they received confirmation that Emmett has a rare genetic metabolic disorder called SanFilippo Syndrome.

SanFilippo has no cure, no treatment options, and it is going to take away his life before it even really begins. It is also referred to as Childhood Dementia. He will begin to lose skills such as speaking, and walking. Other progressive symptoms will include movement disorders and seizures. The life expectancy is 10-20 years, but because it is so rare it is impossible to know how quickly things will progress.

Emmett is a very sweet, playful, active, loud and smiley 4 year old boy. He is always running around, ready to give hugs, and inviting you to play. He loves food, kicking balls, playing with toy cars and most of all bugging his older sister.

The family would like to make the most of the time they have with Emmett while he is still able to enjoy it as well. They are starting to plan a couple trips to Disney, Toronto, and Nova Scotia to visit their family as that is where Steph & Andre are from. They will also eventually have added expenses and time away from work related to Emmett's evolving needs.
