Help End Child Malnutrition in the Ecuadorian Amazon
Tax deductible
Our Wichana Foundation medical/dental brigade recently returned from our 6th visit to the Cuyabeno area of the Ecuadorian Amazon. We provide free medical and dental care, as well as medicine to the indigenous Siona people who live two hours away by canoe from the nearest road. The rain forest is incredibly beautiful but the large majority of the children we test suffer from malnutrition, especially anemia. We bring supplements with us but since we visit infrequently, we need to do much more to address child malnutrition in the communities we serve.
The malnutrition we observe is largely due to families eating meals only once or twice a day. The meals usually consist of yuca, plantains and fish, which do not provide enough iron and other essential vitamins and minerals.
Our plan is to set up regular deliveries of age-appropriate nutritional supplements following WHO guidelines. But we can't do it without your donations!
You can make a difference by donating today to this Wichana Foundation initiative.
We are a small charitable foundation that raises money for community-based projects in Ecuador that benefit the health, education and culture of community members. Visit our website Here
