Help Ensure Federal Mask Mandate Never Returns
Hi there supporter of freedom and civil rights! I’m Lucas, a frequent traveler who was blocked from taking a Southwest flight June 2, 2021, because I medically can't wear a mask and the airline illegally denied my disability exemption. I now lead the Americans Against Mask Mandates coalition of disabled flyers, pilots, and flight attendants who have filed 14 lawsuits seeking to stop the Federal Transportation Mask Mandate and airlines' discriminatory face-covering rules. We have plaintiffs lined up to file another five cases soon, and could use your support to pay for legal fees.
We currently have six cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit challenging TSA's mask mandate and seven cases in federal district courts in California, Colorado, the District of Columbia, Florida, Kentucky, Massachusetts, and Virginia attacking CDC and airlines' muzzling rules. It costs $400-500 to file each case and about $125 to serve the defendants. That's just to get each one started. Your donation makes these lawsuits possible.
In our complaints and petitions, we've presented 228 studies, articles, and videos explaining that face coverings are totally ineffective in reducing COVID transmission but harm our health in at least 68 ways . We contend that forced muzzling violates our individual liberty to determine what we place on our body. Our plaintiffs and petitioners also argue the mask mandate and airlines’ onerous exemption policies violate federal law prohibiting discrimination against flyers with disabilities.
We contend the FTMM violates states’ rights under the Constitution’s 10th Amendment. None of the 50 states currently requires anyone to wear face coverings. Because of the FTMM, numerous state, local, and regional transportation agencies are ordered to enforce a federal policy that is in direct conflict with state law. We ask the courts to hold unlawful and immediately vacate both the FTMM and CDC's International Traveler Testing Requirement because they are improper, illegal, and unconstitutional exercises of executive authority.
Your contribution to help cover our legal fees would be greatly appreciated. The money is paying for items such as court filing fees, service of the complaints to defendants, printing documents, postage, and Public Access to Court Electronic Records research fees.
Articles about our litigation are posted regularly at www.lucas.travel. I will keep all donors updated as the case progresses. Thanks for again your support!
