Help Eng. Alaa Abujarad evacuate Gaza

My name is Amela Gunther and I am an American living in Orange County, California.
I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my friend Alaa AbuJarad, a 24 year-old engineer from Gaza. I met Alaa and his family via IG. Alaa is an exceptional young man with a strong desire to further his engineering experience outside Gaza and help his family rebuild their lives.
His family lost all their livelihood after their home in northern Gaza was bombed last year and the future of his entire family has been shattered.
I have been deeply touched by his resilience, sense of responsibility for his family, and his determination to further himself despite all the challenges he is currently facing in Gaza.
Our goal is to raise money for Alaa to help him survive in Rafah’s current conditions and hopefully evacuate to Egypt and then to UAE where he can find a job as an engineer and help his family rebuild their lives.
The funds will be used as follows: $5,000 Fee to Ya Hala Institute for Rafah crossing, $3,000 accommodation in Egypt and travel expenses to UAE.
Any amount above this will be used to keep Alaa and his family alive, safe, and fed while we are raising the funds.
Alaa’s evacuation will be coordinated via Ya Hala Travel Company and all funds will be transferred to Alaa via PayPal.
The money will be transferred as collected to ensure the family is fed and safe.

Alaa’s story is below:
My name is Alaa AbuJarad and I am a 24 year old civil engineer from Gaza. I graduated from the Islamic University of Gaza in 2022 and before the aggression I was working as an engineer in a sanitary factory.
I was working hard to gain engineering experience and hoped to open my own business one day. However, the occupation bombed and destroyed our home in northern Gaza along with all our possessions, the factory I worked for was leveled to the ground, and the future I once hoped and worked for disappeared too.
My family and I are now displaced in Deir-al-Abalh and live in a tent with very few possessions we managed to save after four displacements we went through.
My immediate family consists of 12 members,- each one of them carried dreams and aspirations that they cannot longer be achieved because of the war. My father was a manager of the Electricity company in the north of Gaza, my mother, and 6 siblings plus my sister Diana’s husband and two children,-3 year old daughter Nevin, and a 5-month old son Mohammed. My sister A'laa is a dentist and used to own a dentistry clinic in northern Gaza. The clinic was bombed and destroyed. Fatima was at her last year of study at a nursing college. Malak was a second year medical student at Al Azar. Her university was destroyed in bombing. Amro is in the last year in his high school and Waseem is a 15 years old and he was in the last year at his prep school.
I am the oldest of male siblings and my responsibility for my family is great.
Amidst the destruction around me that left my family without the livelihood we built for years, I have no other option left than to reach out to good people who can relate to our tragedy to help me raise sufficient funds to leave Gaza.
If I succeed to leave Gaza I would be then the one to help my family rebuild what we had once before.
