Help engineer Aseel and her husband evacuate from Gaza

"My name is engineer Aseel Al-Aklouk, and I am a Palestinian from Gaza. Today, I come to you directly from my heart. My husband and I are in desperate need of your support, and time is of the essence.

Like any person, I have many dreams and desire for a better life, not only for me and my husband but for my family as well. But the Israeli occupation cast a shadow over our hopes, making achieving our goals very difficult.

The occupation demolished our homes: my family’s home, and my husband’s home. We have nothing left, and we face the harsh reality of displacement once this war ends.

After more than 250 days of war on Gaza, we, my husband and my family and I, have lived and are still living terrifying days, amidst the sounds of bombing and destruction and the lack of the most basic necessities of life: no electricity, no water, no food, no medicine.

The Israeli occupation forced us to leave our house in Khan Younis. We could not take anything with us from the house except some clothes and official papers.

A few days before the war, I signed a work contract and was about to start working, but the war prevented us from our most basic rights.

We in the Gaza Strip live a very difficult life. So I write to you today from the heart of a war-torn land, where dreams have been shattered and lives taken or changed forever. I, Aseel Al-Aklouk, am married to Helmi Shurab. I am 24 years old and I live in Deir Al-Balah with my husband and my family at the moment.

I feel compelled to ask for your support and your standing by our side. We desperately need you. We are looking for security and safety. We are living a war of famine, disease, murder, injustice and lack of the necessities of life. We have no choice but to try to evacuate to ensure our family’s survival. This includes transportation, accommodation and other basic expenses needed to exit Gaza to Egypt. Every contribution, no matter how small, brings me closer to safety. Travel agencies charge between $5,000 and $7,000 to cross into Egypt. Please help us in any way you can.

My husband and I urgently need to travel through the Rafah land crossing and escape from this hell. I want my husband and I to live and build a happy family for us in a quiet and safe place like the rest of the world.

I want to give birth to my child in a place full of safety, with a warm bed and a warm room, and not with the sounds of violent and terrifying bombing.

I want us to live a peaceful life as a happy family. We want to establish a beautiful, normal life because our physical and psychological health cannot bear this any more.

But there is a glimmer of hope amidst this darkness. With your support and generous donations, we can rebuild our lives from the ashes. Every donation, no matter how small, will make a big impact.
