Help Epileptic Mother get independence
Donation protected
Hi everyone, my names Melody, I’m from Southern Utah, the mother of a 3 year old girl and I suffer from epilepsy.
Having epilepsy creates big challenges for my everyday life…
Simple things such as self care, getting from point A to point B, enjoying the little things in life like movies, fireworks, concerts, entertainment that majority of others get to properly experience.
My biggest problem is getting from point A to point B independently… (My boyfriend can drive me around, we do have a car, but he’s often busy with work which leaves my daughter and I stuck at the house)
Due to being epileptic, I am legally not allowed to have a drivers license in America, my amazing boyfriend got me an e-bike last tax return, and I am incredibly grateful for it and to this day I use it as much as I can.
But with this Utah heat we often have, the weather often being unpredictable, the amount of time it takes to pull my e-bike and trailer out of the shed, attach the child trailer to my e-bike, attach the battery properly, get it loaded, get my daughter situated… it’s about 30 minutes of prep work before being able to take off, while I have gotten used to the routine, it can be exhausting and troublesome if in a time crunch.
After months of research and making calls, I found an enclosed mobility scooter called a Q-Express. It follows the same street laws as an ebike, it looks like a mini car, you do not need a license to drive it.
It would offer my daughter and I shade/ coolness from the sun, protect us from the rain, and gives us the ability to use it even if it’s snowing and it will keep us warm, I could easily keep my things I normally need to bring in the Q Express, and it’s much safer on the road vs my ebike, it’s easier to see and it has gone through a crash test and passed.
It would overall improve just quality of life and a bit more independence/saftey.
It is unfortunately $8600 (with free shipping thankfully), which is wayyyyy out of our price range, we are in a lot of debt right now so this would just be a day dream with our financial situation
Any donations are going straight to purchasing myself a Q Express, any donations are greatly appreciated, even if it’s just $1
UPDATE: Image and information on the Q Express is in the updates
