Help Equip Kids at The Back Yard School with Sports Gear

I am raising funds for sports equipment and gear for kids at The Back Yard School in Guatemala this June. I will be helping kids in this wonderful journey, teaching them new fundamentals and skills for both soccer and basketball and any other sports they take interest in. The Back Yard School is a non-profit civil organization based in Antigua, Guatemala, dedicated to helping and providing education to local families.

The sports equipment and gear will be purchased and brought to Guatemala on June 5th.

Our Mission:

Hi, my name is Rune. My sister Mireia and I are both from Guatemala. I was adopted from Guatemala at 8 months old by a wonderful family that I’m so thankful for. Not too long after I was adopted, my sister was too. For the longest time, we didn’t know of each other’s existence until we used 23andMe, which connected both of us, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

Last summer, Mireia and I took a trip to Guatemala with a group called “OurGuatemala.” It was our first time being back to our home roots, and it was so beautiful. I loved it, and I know my sister did too. We met some wonderful people and gained new friendships and relationships. We also saw the struggle people were going through in Guatemala. I speak for myself and hopefully others when I say this: I saw a lot of kids who didn’t get the same opportunities as I did, and it hurts to see that. I’m also thankful that I got the opportunities I did, so now I can help and give back to my community. Which is why I’m here today, asking for your help and support in giving back to a community of kids who love sports!
