Help Erik recover from aggravated assault
Donation protected
December 2nd, Thursday night Erik left our home to get groceries at the store we do all our shopping at. He texted me that he was leaving the store and around 8-8:30 PM he was approached by a woman while he was in our car, this woman had been physically assaulted by her boyfriend and wanted to get some food or money. Erik could see that she was hurt and wanted to do the right thing, he wanted to help someone that needed it. In a split second the woman was attacked by her boyfriend. Erik tried to turn the car on to get away but the key broke off in the ignition. This man began stabbing Erik multiple times in the head, arm, hand and knee. Erik tried to protect himself, but realized that this man wouldn't stop. Erik ran away from him trying to get to safety, he left his phone in the car so he was unable to call for help while the man chased after him. The man also damaged our front windshield, back windshield and passenger window sometime during this altercation. Luckily, he was able to get to a store nearby and they called the police and ambulance and waited with him until help arrived. Erik was transported by the ambulance to Abrazo West Campus for trauma surgery and stayed overnight for surveillance. They confirmed that he suffered from 4 stab wounds to his head, 2 in his forehead and 2 on the back of his head. A large and deep cut to his Brachioradialis( a muscle in his arm) and a large deep cut to Rectus Femoris and Vastus Medialis ( front muscles on leg above the knee). His pinky finger was also cut which may need hand surgery. He is so lucky that no major nerves, arteries or veins were hit. However, his wounds are severe and he needs a walker to assist him, physical therapy and possibly hand surgery. We will know more about his outpatient recovery in about a week. We are hoping to raise $10,000 or more to help with the medical bills, rent/utilities & repairs to the car or a new car. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated, especially because we know families are trying to make their Christmas special. Thank you all for your prayers, well wishes, positive vibes and donations.
Here are some words from his sister Maijah:
"My brother is my keeper, he looks out for everyone and lastly himself, I couldn’t see this world without him. He has 3 beautiful children: Two gorgeous little girls and the baby mother is pregnant with their 3rd babygirl. Please if you want to help to ease the stress and trauma of Erik and his family’s lives, please help by donating anything please anything you can, it would help a lot and we would be greatly humbled by it."
