Help Erika Afford Facial Feminization Surgery!

Hi everyone,

I am a 23-year old transgender woman from Kent, Ohio. I have been transitioning for nearly 3 years and am looking to get Facial Feminization Surgery (FFS). Facial Feminization Surgery is a series of plastic surgery procedures designed to create a more feminine appearance of the face. Specifically for me, I am looking to get 6 procedures: forehead contouring, brow lift, scalp advancement, rhinoplasty, lower eyelid blepharoplasty, and mandible contouring. These procedures were picked to feminize my appearance and treat the dysphoria that I am experiencing surrounding these parts of my face.

I have done surgical consultations with a few doctors and settled on Dr. Mardirossian in McLean, VA. Dr. Mardirossian is one of the best FFS (Facial Feminization Surgery) surgeons in the world and I know I will be given the results I'm looking for from him. These funds with be used in conjunction with my own saved money for the procedure and also my health insurance. Facial Feminization Surgery is a very expensive procedure and this Go Fund Me only covers a fraction of the cost. However, this is the total amount that I would need to book the surgery! The remaining total of the procedure my insurance and I will be covering.

The reason I am making a Go Fund Me for this procedure is because it is necessary for me to live a better quality life. I have wanted to get Facial Feminization Surgery since the beginning of my transition, but I decided to wait due to mental health and financial reasons. However, I am now in a place mentally where I am ready to have the surgery and am prepared for the difficult physical/mental recovery. Financially, I have taken care of debts that I was paying off that prevented me from saving up as much for the surgery and now I am saving weekly for my surgery. More specifically, I finished paying off a 2-year plan for full body Laser Hair Removal that costed a little over $12,000.

I have severe Gender Dysphoria surrounding these specific facial characteristics that I have. Everything that causes me dysphoria can be changed from this surgery and would allow me to live a much happier and healthier life. When I say gender dysphoria from my face I mean specifically: crying in the bathroom from distress surrounding my facial bone structure, social anxiety when speaking to other people due to my facial bone structure, and enjoyment being stripped away from me because of the emotional distress surrounding my face.
