Help Erin Regain her Freedom

Hello all!

I'm Erin, and I am in need of your help. For 10 years I was trapped inside of a neglectful and abusive marriage. I left in the middle of the night the day before my 34th birthday. I have been separated from this man well over a year, and am still in the waiting process for a divorce. He has dragged his feet every step of the way. He has also obtained a very good lawyer and has not been forthcoming with many aspects of his life that will affect me in horrible ways if I don't get legal counsel for myself as well. My ex and his lawyer are using every trick that they can to get out of a settlement that's fair for both parties involved. That being said, I do not have the finances to hire a lawyer. The retainer fee for many of the lawyers I called was right under 3,000 dollars. Money I just do not have. I called the free legal counsel for Indiana, and they declined taking my case because they were too busy.

When I left the marriage. I left with nothing. He kept all of the finances, the house, the car. He has everything. I was left to start my life completely over- while his life barely changed. I have worked hard to better my situation. I have gone back to college, started taking medication for severe depression and anxiety, started counseling, and I have learned slowly how to communicate again (something that was yelled and intimidated out of me by him) A couple of months ago my mother turned to me and said, "You're starting to be Erin again. You stopped talking there for a while. I didn't know where you went." And neither did I.

He has let the house go into forbearance after quitting his job during covid. He has taken my stimulus checks for himself and not used any of the money to fix the house up. Instead of trying to fix the house and sell it for what it is worth, he wants to sell it cheaply to a house flipper just to get rid of it.

I have worked hard to obtain what little I have now, but I am stuck in a bad situation that I can't get out of without legal aid. Please help me to FINALLY get out from under this marriage so I can embark on my new journey to a healthy, happy life..
