Help Erin & Steve recover after home invasion
Donation protected
Hi. My name is Alice, and I am raising funds to help my sister and her family on their journey to normalcy and safety in their home following a horrific home invasion on Friday, January 13, 2023.
To best explain what they have been through, please read this quickly written statement my sister wrote the morning of the bond reduction hearing for one of the criminals who changed their lives forever.
Your Honor,
My name is Erin and I am speaking on behalf of my entire family. My family consists of myself (44), my husband Steve (46), my daughter L (13) and my daughter E (9). We were informed that there is a bond reduction hearing today in our case. We were absolutely terrorized in the early morning hours of Friday, January 13th in our modest home of 18 years. We were preparing to celebrate our daughter’s 13th birthday (January 14th) when our sliding glass door was shattered and 4 armed persons entered our home demanding money and keys to our vehicles. Both I and my daughter L saw the perpetrators. I watched as my husband gave them the keys and they still didn’t leave and then brutally assaulted him and pistol-whipped him, blood everywhere. He fell to the ground and then they shot at him, intending to kill him, sending the bullet through the wall into our daughter’s room, narrowly missing her, before running out of our garage and stealing one of our vehicles which was later totaled by them. These are violent happenings and images that are not going to be easily forgotten.
You can imagine the impact that this has had on our small family, especially our children, who are living in fear in the only home they’ve ever known. My husband travels for a living, leaving the three of us alone in our home. This has impacted us mentally and financially in multiple ways currently, as well as unforeseen future therapy costs, loss of income from missing work, impact on our children and ourselves as we have to navigate our new situation and try to return to normalcy.
Alice here again...my heart is broken for them. So many friends have said “please let me know how I can help” or “I wish there were something I could do” Well, you can help.
It has become apparent that, in addition to the mental well-being journey ahead, and the costs involved from missing work, and setting up therapy for all - they will also experience many additional financial hurdles along the way - to name a few...replacing their car (to get the exact one they had, a used 2019 CRV, it is $10,000 more than they paid for it 4 years ago, replacing their sliding glass door, home repairs from the shooting, and an upgraded security system. Any donation, no matter the amount, would be greatly appreciated.
All of you who know my sister know that she has a heart of gold, she donates to endless charities and is the first to offer assistance in a crisis. She has also raised her daughters to think of others first.
None of us ever think this will happen to someone we know, let alone an immediate member of our family. We are so thankful all are alive, and wish nothing more than for them to be able to resume their lives, feeling safe and secure. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
On behalf of our entire family, much love, and safety to all.
