Help Erin Pay for Her Transition
Donation protected
Hi! I'm Erin, a 28-year-old trans woman from the UK!
After years of struggle, with the help of this campaign I was finally able to arrange private gender affirming surgery.
Now, I will be paying for this for the next five years.
If you wish to help me, any ammont you can donate will be so amazing!
[Below is the original description of this campaign, written in 2022]
Some seven years ago, like many other trans people in the UK and the British Isles, I was referred to the Tavistock and Portman Gender Identity Clinic. Unfortunately, I was living in Jersey at the time. Due to the failures of the Tavistock Clinic and the health service in Jersey, I was removed from the waiting list in December 2016 at no fault of my own and never told.
Flash forward to 2022, and despite finally receiving my first appointment many years late, I am now being asked to wait even longer before being considered for any treatment. Additionally, despite numerous complaints and investigations, the limited treatment promised to me in that first appointment has failed to materialise.
Through no fault of my own, and due to the failures of two healthcare systems, I feel like my life is on hold, that I am waiting for someone's permission to live my life.
I am unable to trust the NHS to treat me like a human. And while I can afford HRT privately. However, that still leaves the question of prohibitively expensive surgical intervention.
Without such intervention, I currently suffer extreme genital dysphoria daily. This limits the clothes I'm comfortable wearing and the activities I'm comfortable participating in. It even presents a significant amount of mental strain when performing essential self-care, such as washing myself.
I do not feel like I can live a fulfilling life while this mental burden constantly crushes me.
Due to not having chosen a surgeon yet, I can't be sure of the exact cost. However, I believe it will be in the range of £15k based on the options I'm currently looking into.
