Help Ethan Scott and his family!

Before the start of his senior year in high school, Ethan Scott (17) was diagnosed with a rare life-threatening condition called severe aplastic anemia (also called bone marrow aplasia). The sole curative treatment for this condition is a bone marrow transplant if immunosuppressive therapy has failed. 

Unfortunately, Ethan hasn’t responded to therapy and has been transfusion dependent to keep him living. In addition, Ethan must undergo chemotherapy and radiation treatment as well as remain hospitalized for roughly 100 days during the transplant phase.

During our search for a related/unrelated matched donor, we only found limited options for Ethan. The world-wide registry found only two unrelated 9/10 matches. Out of all Ethan’s 3 siblings, there was only one 50% Haploidentical possibility from his sister. His sister is considered the best option for Ethan under the circumstances.

We’d like to strongly encourage any healthy individuals within the age requirements to join this registry and please be a life saver! All you need to do is swab your cheek and fill out some online forms.

Ethan’s medical insurance policy will not cover approximately $50,000 of his treatment cost. Because his parents’ financial situation is limited, this fundraiser for Ethan aims to contribute as much as possible toward that uncovered amount. The hospital being so far from their home has also complicated matters. Any help would be greatly appreciated by Ethan and his family.
