The Académie Camerounaise des Formations (ACF) is a civil society organisation based in Bafoussam, West Cameroon, aiming to contribute to the improvement of education programmes for young people and adults, with a focus on sustainable development and citizenship as well as diversity and interculturality. Since 2019 we are supporting education for internal displaced children, victims of the ongoing anglophone crise in the North-West and South-West-Region of Cameroon. We offer financial, academic and psychological support.
We had the honour supporting Eugene, financially and materially, to brilliantly obtain his GCE Ordinary Level in 2021, then a brilliant Science A-level degree in 2023. We could unfortunately no longer financing his education. So could Eugene last academic year not continue his education, but he assisted our organisation in teaching vulnerable children.
Eugene wishes to start Bachelor studies in Electrical Engineering in a High School located Douala/Cameroon. Seeing his talent, his intelligence and his perseverance, we support highly his engagement in scientific studies and wish, WITH HELP OF YOU, to support him with the necessary funds. Now, who is Eugene?
“My name is Angeah Eugene Tsimi, and I was born in Ikiliwindi, Cameroon, to parents who originally came from Nyos. Though physically challenged in my leg, my determination to learn has never wavered. I started my education at the Catholic School Ikiliwindi and later went to GHS Meli. My academic performance shone, and in 2016, I was chosen as a Junior Parliamentarian, representing my Division at the National Assembly. This was a proud moment, a testimony to my hard work. However, my journey wasn't without roadblocks. The ongoing socio-political crisis in the region forced me to stay home for four years, denying me my right to education. During this difficult time, my family struggled financially, and my father's hopes for our education dwindled.
In 2020, seeking a brighter future, we relocated to Bafoussam. Here, I enrolled in GBHS Bafoussam Ndiengndam while also taking care of my younger siblings. Just as things seemed to stabilize, tragedy struck. My father was involved in a motorcycle accident, leaving him hospitalized and mentally affected. To add to our woes, a bushfire ravaged our family's cocoa farm. Despite these hardships, I managed to succeed in my O-level exams, passing all eleven subjects with impressive marks. My siblings too, performed well in their respective classes. After that we faced new challenges with the landlord who wanted to send us out, we were five in one room, only one mattress, and he wanted to double the rents. This experience highlights the difficulties faced by Anglophones living in Francophone regions of Cameroon. In this difficult moment I met with ACF, and we could have some peace. They helped us to change the house and to take over the first rents, also they took over my sibling’s school fees and supported us in many other ways. With the support of ACF, I was able to graduate from high school in 2023 with an excellent score. Since then, I have been trying to get a scholarship to study engineering, so far still looking for opportunities.”
Please, lets help Eugene not wasting his brilliant Talent!
