Help Eugene and Sandy Rebuild After Fire

Donation protected
Hello,

My name is Eugene and I have been a resident of Big Bear for the past 7 years. Tragically on August 18, 2024, I lost my home and possessions to a home fire caused by a lithium-ion backup battery pack charger. I was not home at the time but my girlfriend Sandy was home asleep and my dog Pipi was home as well. I arrived home to flames and smoke spewing from the house. My first reaction was to try to enter the home and get everyone out, but as soon as I opened the door, the flames and smoke hit me and I was not able to enter. I then broke my girlfriend's room window and was able to pull her out in time. She had inhaled some smoke and nearly passed out in the home.

I took her to a safe place and ran back to the home to try to save my dog. Unfortunately, I was unable to save her due to the house becoming engulfed in flames.

After the smoke cleared thanks to the courageous actions of the Big Bear Fire Department, they told me that my dog had barely made it to my girlfriend's room and she was found laying by the door. My heart just dropped when I heard the news.

This tragedy has flipped our lives but we are just grateful that we are alive and we will pull through this. That's really what matters. For those who know me, know that I am a music producer/DJ.

I have lost all my musical equipment, record collection and years of music that was stored in multiple hard drives. Things that will never be replaced I have lost in the fire. My girlfriend has also lost all her possessions. Sandy is a patient experiencing liver cirrhosis, which she has been battling for over 10 years. One of the reasons we moved to Big Bear was to help her regain her health. This event has made her ill and because we lost all the medicines and treatment equipment, she is having a hard time recovering. I am just grateful she is alive because the situation could've been a lot worse.

With your help, we can get back on track to recovery. Any amount is greatly appreciated. Sandy and I greatly thank you for your help and support.

Please hold your loved ones tight because you never know what can happen in life. This fire was so quick and really showed me its power and ferocity. I truly know first hand now what people that have gone through this kind of traumatic event. I pray that nobody goes through what we have. Through this, my faith in the Lord has become much stronger and I believe He will take care of us through this ordeal.

God bless all of you and thank you for your time and donations.

Sincerely,

Eugene and Sandy
