From Gina:
My little brother, Eugene, had a massive stroke on Monday, June 12, and is currently fighting for his life. It has been a difficult week since then with him undergoing emergency brain surgery and remaining in critical condition on life support in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

About a month ago, Eugene found out he is a father and has been on top of the world since then. He was working many overtime hours to provide for his daughter and was pushing through discomfort that we now know were danger signs of a stroke. As we celebrate his first Father's Day, I humbly ask for your support of his recovery journey so that he can pick up where he left off with his little one. Eugene is a fighter and we believe he will pull through this. Our family is asking all of you to believe in him, too.

We humbly request your support during this challenging time. We greatly appreciate all prayers, healing energy, and financial contributions you can send his way as they will all make a huge difference in Eugene's recovery and our family's ability to navigate this crisis. No donation is too small and every act of kindness counts, including sharing his GoFundMe with your networks.

Lastly, we ask that everyone check your blood pressure, go for an annual checkup if you havent in the last year, and learn the warning signs of stroke. I know that access to affordable care, along with historical and lived medical trauma, is a common barrier for Black and brown communities. I plan to post local resources to accessible care as I am able.

A few more notes from Gina's friends:
The entire Allen family has been through too much recently, and our beloved Gina has had to manage way too much. Grandma Marshie passed just a few months ago, and there have been other intense family health scares since then.
We want to take financial stress off of Gina and her entire immediate and extended family as they navigate another traumatic moment and the long-term health and care needs Eugene may have moving forward. Exact breakdown of costs to come as it becomes clearer, but this money will help cover: medical bills, Eugene's rent, rehabilitative residency to ensure he has as strong of a recovery as possible, and long-term care. Our medical and insurance systems do not make these essential services accessible, so that's where we all come in. Please join us in supporting Eugene and the entire family so that Eugene can access the care he needs, and Gina and her family have one less thing to worry about as they support his recovery.
