Help Eve Afford Her Sick Kitty’s Vet Care!

My name is Eve Mitchell and I am the owner and founder of Our Cats’ World. For the first time in my life, I have a sick cat for whom I can’t afford treatment. She has vitamin D poisoning. She got hold of our packet of vitamin D supplements and ate one sometime on Thanksgiving Day.

She’s currently at the Veterinary Specialty Center in Bannockburn, IL. The vets there have been giving her exemplary care such as pushing fluids through her to flush the toxins out of her system and medications to remove the excess calcium from her blood.

Her condition is improving and her prognosis is looking good; however, we have high costs with which we need help, especially since we can’t bring her home yet.

These are the most current estimates I have for her care.

Destri and her sister came into our lives a little over a year ago as little feisty kittens. We adopted them from a rescue and they both stole our hearts within a few days.

They’re both very intelligent but have very different…shall we say, interests. Destri can get into anything. She can open closets and cabinets, and climb things none of our other cats can climb. We’ve found her in some of the oddest places in the house.

Her favorite way to play is a game of fetch with a scrunchie. If she can pull open my drawer, she’ll pull one (or two, or five) out and carry it around the house, mewing as she goes. It’s adorable.

We recently put a squirrel feeder up in our yard and Destri loves to sit at the back door with her sister and watch them intently while they eat and squabble with each other.
