Help Evie Battle Hodgkin Lymphoma #EvieStrong
Donation protected
Evie's Aunt’s Brittnay and Stephanie are asking for your help to support Evie's battle with Hodgkin Lymphoma. Evie's treatment plan is not set in stone yet. However, we know that Evie will need chemotherapy for between 3 and 9 months. Evie’s mom, Jenna, will need to take a considerable amount of unpaid time off of work to care for Evie during treatment. Chemotherapy puts Evie at a very high risk for infertility. Unfortunately, the insurance does not cover fertility preservation. Anyone who knows Evie knows how much Evie loves children and has always dreamed of having a family.
All donations will go towards making Evie's dream come true in the future and to cover lost income while Evie's parents fight right alongside Evie every step of the way. In addition, your donation will also help with various expenses related to Evie’s care. Evie has a long journey ahead of her that no 11 year old should ever have to go through and something no parent should have to witness. Please keep Evie and their family in your thoughts and prayers. We thank you for any donations and prayers.

Evie's Hodgkin Lymphoma battle thus far:
On January 22, 2022, Evie’s mom, Jenna, noticed a large lump on the right side of Evie’s neck. Jenna, who happens to work as a PA in endocrinology, did an exam on Evie and found 3 large masses in the neck. On January 24th, Jenna took Evie into her clinic, and one of the physicians she works with did an ultrasound on Evie's neck, which showed that the masses were lymph nodes. The size, location and increased blood flow of the lymph nodes were very concerning. Evie had a second ultrasound on January 28th, followed by a biopsy of the lymph nodes on February 8th. On February 11th, Jenna received the biopsy results, which showed Evie has lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphatic system. At that time the pathologist was still working to determine what kind of lymphoma this is.
On February 15th, Evie had their first appointment with oncology. The family found out Evie has Classical Hodgkin Lymphoma. Currently, the subtype is unknown. However, if Evie has risk factors for reoccurence, the subtype will not matter, and Evie will have to undergo more aggressive chemotherapy treatment. If Evie does not have any risk factors for reoccurrence and has a favorable stage, one of the lymph nodes will need to be surgically removed to determine the subtype. Knowing the subtype will let the doctors know if they can use a less or more aggressive chemotherapy approach.
On February 17th, Evie will have a pulmonary function test done, then on February 22nd a PET MRI, chest CT scan and an echocardiogram. Once these results come back, the stage will be known. After that, Evie will begin chemotherapy as early as next week that will last 3 to 9 months, depending on the staging and risk factors.
Chemotherapy will compromise Evie's immune system causing a high risk for infection. Any infection could be life-threatening. If Eve has any sign of fever, admittance to the hospital is necessary.
While this was an unexpected and devastating diagnosis, we have been reassured that most cases of childhood lymphoma can be cured. The oncologist said that although it will be a long and tough road, it is reasonable to expect this to be cured and not come back.
We will continue to make updates on Evie’s battle. Again, we thank you for any donations, positive thoughts and prayers. Thank you all for your support!
