Help Ex-Law360 Employees Impacted By Layoffs
Donation protected
Update 4/24: These generous donations have been distributed to members who were laid off in violation of labor law and without subsidized healthcare. Unfortunately, Law360’s actions continue to cause our members hardship. Law360 management recently sent some members incorrect COBRA enrollment information, leaving them to pay hundreds more for healthcare.
In light of this, we again need to raise funds to support our former co-workers through this difficult time. We greatly appreciate your solidarity and support for these members who deserve better.
This is a fundraiser to benefit 26 of our unlawfully laid-off colleagues — roughly 10% of our unit. The members of the Law360 Union have walked off the job today, Wednesday, March 20, to protest the company's illegal layoffs.
Law360 and its parent company, LexisNexis, first informed workers of this layoff plan on February 15th — the same day LexisNexis Legal & Professional CEO Mike Walsh announced record-level profit and revenue growth rates for the company. On March 1, 2024, the Law360 Union filed an unfair labor practice charge against Portfolio Media d/b/a Law360 for proposing layoffs under the union’s expired contract, which reached the end of its term on Dec. 31, 2022.
All the funds collected from this fundraiser will go to laid off employees to help them cover bills, housing expenses, childcare, groceries, medicine, health insurance costs and other living expenses.
Funds will be distributed among laid off employees. This fundraiser is member-led and is not affiliated with the NewsGuild, which may not raise money outside our dues.
We call on our employer to bargain these layoffs in good faith as part of a complete contract and reinstate our colleagues after a year of high revenue and profit growth. Our hard-working former co-workers don’t deserve to face financial hardship.
We’re thankful for your donations, which will help us support our former colleagues as we continue to take legal action against these layoffs and fight for a fair contract.
