Ethiomedia has come a long way since it was launched in August 2002. The goal of the website was very clear from the beginning: offer a free forum for all Ethiopians committed to promoting unity, the rule of law, democracy and justice in Ethiopia.
Ethiomedia particularly rose to prominence during the 2005 elections in the country . While EPRDF was bent on controlling the media, Ethiomedia was fighting back by providing the Ethiopian people with an alternative media to venting their anger and frustrations. As a result, Ethiomedia was awarded a prize by CUD (Kinijit) for its second-to-none performance.
As a result, Ethiomedia has become a trustworthy media often contacted by members ranging from the US Congress to non-governmental organizations such as Human Rights Watch .
Today those of us editors in charge of Ethiomedia are planning to rebuild Ethiomedia on the latest Web technology. The rising cost that covers state-of-the -art Web services has brought us face to face with you the friends of Ethiomedia and ask you to donate toward the betterment of Ethiomedia.com.
