Help Ezra Fight Leukemia!
Thank you for visiting the Go Fund Me page for Ezra Black. We have created this page with permission from the Blacks, and have asked them to share some specifics about Ezra's situation -
On Friday, July 30, after several weeks of feeling crummy on and off, unexplained fevers, a persistent cough, among other symptoms, Ezra was taken to the ER in Fort Collins to get to the bottom of what has been going on. It was discovered that Ezra’s hemoglobin was dangerously low. The ER doctor came into the room, tears in his eyes, and said he believed Ezra had leukemia. An ambulance was ordered and Ezra was rushed to Denver Children’s Hospital via ambulance and immediately admitted to the PICU. Over the next several days, it was determined that Ezra indeed had leukemia (AML). Ezra will have 6 months of very intense treatment, primarily in-patient. He will spend 4-5 weeks in the hospital receiving chemo, waiting for his white blood cell counts to raise, and then will be gifted 3-5 days at home before the cycle starts again. Ezra will have 3 rounds of chemo followed by a Bone Marrow Transplant. We are grateful for the care Ezra is receiving at Denver Children’s Hospital. It is a gift to have such a phenomenal treatment option within 90 minutes of us. The reality is, however, that it is about a 90 minute drive. Because of this distance, we (Vince and Kirsten) will be tag-teaming over the next 6 months - one at home with the other 4 boys and one at the hospital with Ezra."
While many things are unknown, we do know that the Blacks will need lots of support during this time. Easing the financial strain on their family as they maneuver the logistics of Ezra's treatment protocol over the coming months is a very practical way to show your love! Your gifts will go directly to them. Additionally, in an effort to coordinate all the offers to help with the day-to-day needs that arise, we will primarily be posting these requests on Ezra's Caring Bridge site, so please adjust your settings to receive notifications. Click HERE to go to Ezra's site. Finally, and most importantly, we ask that you continue to pray for Ezra and his entire family during this time. Please set reminders in your phones - we want to keep the love & support coming for this precious family.
