Help Faith & Climate Action Fight RBC

We are Faith and Climate Action, an inter-faith group of activists who live our eco-spirituality and our God-given responsibility to care for our home, the Earth, and everything on it.
On April 9th, 2024, two days before RBC's (Royal Bank of Canada's) Annual General Meeting, we formed a prayer circle in the middle of a downtown Toronto RBC branch. We read the unanswered letter we wrote to RBC last November. We read our Statement of Action. We prayed and we sang. For this, we were arrested for trespassing! Ironic, given RBC is funding the Coastal GasLink Pipeline that is trespassing on unceded, traditional Wet'suwet'en lands with so-called Canada's permission. SHAME!
We each received a $65 ticket for our transgression. We are raising money to build a legal fund to pay for current and future fines, legal expenses and related costs we may incur as a result of our standing in solidarity with the Wet'suwet'en, our children and the next seven generations, against the greedy, selfserving RBC board and investors.
The Royal Bank of Canada is the #1 funder of fossil fuel in Canada and #5 in the world. They claim they don't have the power to stop. In Canada's capitalist economy, money is power. RBC HAS THE POWER to shape history, to course correct, to lead the march away from self destruction. David McKay (RBC CEO) saying they are constrained by, "society and the economy" is simply a lie! We are calling RBC out on their hypocrisy and taking action to disrupt their "business as usual" until they divest of all new fossil fuel investments in favour of renewable energy sources, and refuse to fund ANY project that does not have the prior, informed consent of the Indigenous on the affected territory.
