Who is Faiza Shaheen?

Faiza Shaheen is a dedicated academic specializing in inequality who grew up in Chingford and Woodford Green. She previously stood as the Labour candidate in the 2019 election and was poised to challenge the Conservative stronghold held by Iain Duncan Smith. Despite her qualifications and commitment to the community, she has faced significant obstacles within the Labour Party. Now is the time - for us a community to support her stand as an independent candidate.

Why Your Support is Needed

Faiza's candidacy was blocked by Labour's NEC in a decision she describes as influenced by "a systematic campaign of racism, Islamophobia, and bullying." She was given just five and a half hours’ notice for a crucial panel meeting while caring for her five-month-old baby, and was later informed of her exclusion through the media. Despite these challenges, if we in sufficient numbers show her that we’re here for her (not Starmer’s Labour) and that we’ll support her to run as an independent, our hope is that she will.

Faiza has bravely highlighted the prejudice and factionalism within the Labour Party, stating, "Labour, far from being a broad church encompassing different views, has an ingrained culture of bullying and a palpable problem with black and brown people." Her fight is not just for her candidacy but for fair treatment and dignity for all party members. Instead of standing back while Starmer and his awful right-wing cronies purge the Labour of all the values that made us join Labour, we can show them that their deceptive plan has backfired.
