Help Fake Fruit buy a touring vehicle

Fake Fruit here, after years of touring in a toyota highlander and or borrowed vehicles we are finally ready to buck up and ask y’all for some help buying a van! We have been touring in a way that is not sustainable, and with our sophomore record (funded completely out of pocket) under our belt we really just need wheels to hit the ground running. It is difficult to make an ask like this in a time when needs are so saturated, and people who have been continually wronged are still struggling in all kinds of ways due to the pandemic, and society in general.

Despite the odds and every road block the pandemic has thrown at us, we have been a self-sufficient machine up until this point. This means using all of the money we’ve made as a band to cover gas, lodging, food, merch production, recording, mixing, mastering, paying artists, paying percentages of each show we play to booking agents, and our former managers, and paying venues a cut of merch. It’s been a feedback loop of getting double NOT paid, seeing as we take leave from our paying jobs to tour and although we’ve been lucky to break even mostly, if there is a profit it goes back into sustaining the band. Anyway, all of this is not to downplay how we feel having started from nothing; we are so thankful for everyone who has supported us in any way, be it attending a show, or buying our record or our merch etc. We are SO fucking lucky to be doing what we are doing, and playing shows and touring with bands we absolutely adore.

Once we have wheels we can finally tour more extensively, but unfortunately we have reached a point where we have had to turn down numerous tour opportunities due to our lack of transportation, namely a vehicle that can hold all of us and our sh*t lol!! This is us calling on our community to ask, if you appreciate what we are doing, and where we are headed, will you help us raise money to buy a used van that drives and hopefully doesn’t smell that bad?
