Help Families of Newark's Brave Detectives

On the evening of March 7th, 2025, two of Newark's finest detectives were out on the street doing what they did every day, protecting and serving the citizens of Newark, NJ. That night, however, was not like the others. That night, these two officers, while investigating criminal intelligence, were met with a barrage of gunfire as they closed in on suspects they had been conducting surveillance on. Unfortunately, both our detectives were struck by gunfire. Detective Azcona lost his life in this senseless tragedy, while our second detective was injured, he was still able to return fire.

This GoFundMe is to ask for support for their families. Your donations will help relieve some of the burden that Nereida, mother of Sergeant Azcona, and our surviving Detective will encounter while they go through this unfortunate chapter in their life.

This GoFundMe is organized by the Newark Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 12, and is the only current and authorized fundraiser running.
