Help the Thompson Family Recover After the Eaton Canyon Fire

Dear Friends, Neighbors, and Kind-Hearted Supporters:

My name is Talford (T.J.) Thompson. I am an Altadena native and the eldest son of the Thompson family. In the middle of the night on January 7, 2025, the Thompson family had to face an unimaginable tragedy. As the Eaton Canyon Fire tore through the hills of Altadena, our family home—rich with history, love, and memories—was lost in the flames.

The Thompson family home was first purchased in 1967 by Jim and Bonnie Storms, who embodied the spirit of service and community. Prior to their passing, Bonnie dedicated over 30 years of her life to groundbreaking work at JPL, while Jim inspired countless students as an educator, dean, and beloved football coach at Pasadena’s John Muir High School for over 25 years.

This home wasn’t just a house. It was a sanctuary where Jim and Bonnie raised four children and hosted countless family and friends. Additionally, it was one of the earliest “Gold Medallion" homes in Southern California; it has been powered entirely by electricity since it was built in 1938.

In 1996, James and Bonnie’s youngest daughter, Laura Storms-Thompson, and her husband, T, purchased the home to continue its legacy. Together, they raised two children, T.J. and Lauren, hoping to one day pass this cherished home down to the next generation. But this devastating fire has turned their dream to ash, and now we face the daunting task of rebuilding our lives from scratch.
