Help family of 4 recover after LA fires
Donation protected
On January 7th, the devastating fires in Los Angeles forced my cousin Anjela, her husband Michael and their 2 young children to evacuate their home in Altadena. They left with only the clothes on their backs and their vehicles. While they made it out safely, the following day, they learned that their home, along with much of their neighborhood, had been completely destroyed by the fire.
Anjela, Michael, and their two beautiful children, ages 3 and 2, have already faced more than their share of challenges in recent years. Just as they were beginning to move forward, this disaster struck. Michael had poured his heart and soul into renovating their ADU, a project he and his brother worked tirelessly on together for 3 years. After less than 9 months of finally being able to live in the newly completed ADU, it was tragically consumed by the fires. This home, as well as the main house where Michael’s mother and brother lived, were all lost to the flames. Even more heartbreaking, other members of their extended family also lost everything in this catastrophe.
Their struggles are compounded by ongoing health challenges within the family. On the very day they were forced to evacuate, Anjela was with a family member who was in urgent care when the evacuation order came through. Michael had to act quickly, grabbing their children and leaving with no time to save anything else.
To make matters worse, the children’s school was also destroyed in the fire. Not only have they lost their home, but they now face the additional hardship of being unable to attend school.
