Help Family Relocate After Dallas, TX Explosion
Donation protected
On September 29th, 2021 a gas leak explosion caused 3 apartment buildings in Highland Hills Apartments in Dallas, TX to become inhabitable. Me and my two children were left homeless with only the clothes on our back. Due to unsafe conditions, we are unable to access our apartment to get any of our belongings and are being told that there is no guarantee that we will be able to return to the building. The property management has yet to provide any information and even if we are allowed back into the property, we do not feel safe living under these conditions. We are the verge of living in our car.
A month ago, I was laid off of from my full time job due to workforce reduction due to Covid-19. So my finances are low and I am doing the best I can to keep family taken care of.
In addition to this devastation, I suffer from severe Crohn's disease. I receive Remicade infusion treatments every four weeks to keep the disease under control. I typically have my infusions in my home because after treatments I need 2-3 days to recover. This displacement has created a significant challenge for my treatment and well being. In addition to my health condition, my children are also in severe emotional distress.
I plan to use any GoFundMe money to immediately purchase school uniforms for my children, basic toiletries, food, a deposit on a new apartment, rent, moving expenses, and anything we are unable to retrieve from out apartment building. We are completely devastated at the thought of starting over and losing many non-replaceable items such as family photos and memorabilia.
I am a single mother with no immediate family to lean on. I am reaching out to the community, because together, I know we can make miracles happen.
