Help Family That Lost Everything in Flood
On behalf of my family, I hope I can help them get the help they need. My name is Samantha Walters and as many as y’all know through social media and news broadcasting, that Rock Creek Apartments got flooded on Sept 1st, 2021 from remains of Hurricane Ida. It happened all too fast. My mom, my grandpa, my 10yr old daughter and my sister were sleeping in the early hours when they were woken up by fire rescuers removing them from the window into a life saver boat. My daughter usually stays with them. My sister drives her to school and takes care of her while I’m at work. Most of her stuff was also damaged and not recovered; things such as her backpack for school, the new clothes and shoes she had got. All her supplies gone. Not knowing what was going on at first. Water rushed high levels above body. Water had flooded the basement. All of their belongings were damaged and not to be recovered. Thankful for the shoes and clothes given while standing outside waiting to see what happens next. They relocated to a recreation center. ***Update: The county has placed them in a hotel***. They are in need of anything that can be given. Money will be used for such bills due to not being able to work during this time until things are stable, food, shelter, transportation and clothes. Anything is appreciated. Thank you.
***Another Update- Thanks to everyone who has donated or given us money, supplies, food etc in person. Much appreciated. We know this is a hard time for everyone that lived in the apartments. We never thought a day like this would happen. Thank you so much for you all support.
