Hello Everyone!
The young lady you see in this picture is Brianna, a very smart, loving, 14 year old, young lady. Just a few short days before Christmas 2021, Brianna was told she had stage 4 cancer, Ewing sarcoma which is cancer that surrounds and inhabits the bones. This cancer consumes most of her body, it would be easier to tell you where it isn’t located. She was taken into surgery to remove a tumor in her spinal cord. They were only able to remove part of the tumor naming what was left blue cell tumor. Brianna has a very rare blood disorder called protein S deficiency which causes random blood clots making this whole process a bit more difficult. Any cut or needle poke can cause a thrown clot and that is very dangerous. Since then she has had chemo treatments every other week, this chemo has a risk of causing leukemia later on down the road. Brianna is currently in the process of having her stem cells harvested in the event that she will need a transplant later on. Brianna is also the first pediatric patient in Augusta to do stem cell harvesting. Let me introduce Brianna’s mother Christine. She is a hard working woman. She is sole provider for her family and she sacrifices so much for her family of 5, Brianna being her oldest child. Working in retail, the finances were already tight but Christine worked hard and as often as she could to provide a decent life for her family. Just a few weeks before the news that broke the hearts of so many people, Christine closed on her first home. As you can imagine Christine has spent countless hours at doctors visits and hospital stays and it has impacted how much she can work. Her employers are very understanding and when she can work she does, however this has put so much more of a financial strain on Christine. If you have ever been the parent of a cancer patient you know that a parent shouldn’t have to choose between working and taking care of their sick child. That is what this fundraiser is for. It’s to help Christine be as present as possible with her child and not have to worry about wether or not she can pay her mortgage, lights, water, and provide the other things that the family needs to sustain life. If God has blessed you in a way that you can help, please do so. Every little bit helps! We will keep everyone update on Brianna’s progress! Thank everyone of you for taking the time to read Christine and Brianna’s story.
