Support Fathi and the Siwa Community
Donation protected
All of us were who were hosted by Fathi remember the central role he played in our discovery of the magic and beauty of the Siwa Oasis and the Sahara Desert. Nights spent in Siwa Astrocamp, desert safaris through the dunes, camp dinners under a sky full of stars and Fathi’s humor and wit - are experiences that we will never forget. Fathi and the Siwa community impressed everyone they met with their calm and wise presences, and their warm hospitality.
When the Coronavirus epidemic hit in early April, tourism to Siwa abruptly ended. Over the last 3 months, Fathi has not received any tourists and unfortunately has received no help from the government and will not be getting any in the future. Without any revenue from tourism, Fathi has been unable to support any of his staff or even keep on running his camp. The money raised through your donations will help support Fathi and the Bedouins who work for him and his camp and help him get through this time of uncertainty.
I hope you will find the generosity to help Fathi and the Siwa community. Fathi will use this to pay his workers so they can feed their family and any extra can be invested in essential repairs to his equipment and replacing old and broken equipment. Fathi hopes to welcome new tourists in 2021 or sooner, and please spread the word and help him to survive. Any donation is deeply appreciated.
