Help Feed Our Community : PPLA Needs You!
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
This week marks ONE YEAR of distributing food as the People's Pantry L.A. We started this distribution at a time of increased food insecurity caused by the pandemic. When we began, our family and numerous volunteers came together to help get food and PPE to anyone who needed it. Our first distribution brought a small crowd of 40 people, and each one thereafter it would grow--to 80, 100, 120. The need was great within our communities, and we supported our neighbors with heartfelt action.
During the height of the pandemic we altered our distribution model and provided free food deliveries for 75 local families in El Sereno and surrounding neighborhoods.PPLA has served a vast population, ranging from elders , families, unhoused people, and day laborers, to people in crisis having to transition or having to choose between food or rent.
We have been able to do this work because of our volunteers and generous supporters. We are still here, 29 food distributions later, because the need is still here.
A donation to this campaign contributes to food equity and access within our community in El Sereno. PPLA is 100% volunteer run and community funded.
If we were to reach our goal we could continue providing distributions of healthy options, fresh produce, dry goods, water and prepared meals at least twice a month for the next year.
Please share this link with your friends and family and on your social media so that we can reach our goal by August 24th .
Every little bit helps! Sharing is caring!
