Help Feed Refugee Families
Donation protected
We are raising funds to help provide meals for refugees traveling through Mexico from Honduras, El Salvador and other countries where violence has made life untenable.
Currently there are no large NGOs providing food support to the refugee families, who are reliant on what is given to them as they pass through generous, but very low-income communities.
We are working with activists traveling with the refugee caravan who have been providing a very limited number of meals with the help of local volunteers and merchants--preparing appropriate, nutritious and appealing foods including chicken, rice and homemade tortillas. With even a small amount of additional funding we can do more.
To date we have bought and distributed 710 liters of milk, 500 lbs of bananas, 500 energy bars, 30 cases of bottled water, 1000 servings of hot pollo asado with tortillas, an additional 300 lbs of mixed fresh fruit, several hundred granola bars and socks, lip balm and baby supplies that were urgently needed. We have only been able to provide for children and some mothers with the food that we have available and everyone has been very understanding about this circumstance.
Even a small donation feeds a child. Other than very small platform fees, there is no 'overhead' to this campaign. We are simply seeking to get as much food out to families as efficiently as possible. Donations are processed through our 501c3 charitable organization, the Cardea Center for Women.
Thank you in advance for any help that you can extend to these most vulnerable families. This is something that together, we can do.
