Help Felipa Volunteer in Rural Guatemala
Tax deductible
Dear Friends and Family,
I am headed back to Guatemala this coming April to assist with a series of special mobile clinics that will provide integrative healthcare services to the medically-underserved communities of Santa Cruz del Quiché and Chichicastengo. I rarely ask for financial support. However, this is a great opportunity for me, once again, to “give back”. I would be very appreciative of your financial support to help cover my out-of-pocket expenses for this wonderful experience, shifting healthcare with kindness and compassion. Please see more details below.
I have been invited to participate in a medical outreach program organized by Global Healthworks Foundation (GHF), a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization that provides integrative healthcare services to underserved communities, domestically and internationally. Working with other GHF volunteers to provide medical services to those truly in need is incredibly rewarding and I am very grateful to have been part of more than a dozen prior medical outreach initiatives!
To gain insight into GHF's impactful outreach efforts, please watch this short video highlighting the organization's achievements in 2023 --> GHF 2023 Year In Review video link.
One of GHF’s primary service sites is in the Northwestern region of Guatemala – and I will be heading there again in this coming April to assist with several special mobile clinics, also known as "jornadas". These clinics will provide acupuncture, therapeutic bodywork, natural herbal remedies, rehabilitative body movement exercises (e.g., qigong, yoga), nutritional counseling, Reiki energy healing, psychological counseling, and more to upwards of 250 patients per day. In addition to direct patient care, we will also train local health promoters in the communities we serve to empower their communities with tools for sustainable health.
Your generous donations to GHF will go directly towards covering my air and ground travel expenses, and rural accommodations. With any surplus, I will purchase vitamins (children’s and adult), and much needed clinic treatment supplies.
Thank you in advance for all your love and support!
With gratitude,
Felipa

p.s. More Information:
The indigenous populations in the Northwestern region of Guatemala have limited access, or no access to modern healthcare. The typical life in these regions is physically demanding with many people living as manual laborers or subsistence farmers, often with poor diets, limited access to clean water, and regular exposure to challenging environmental conditions. This has lead to the majority of the population suffering from chronic physical pain, and diseases such as diabetes, dysentery, hepatitis, asthma, bronchitis, skin diseases, parasites, and childhood nutritional deficits.
