Help Felix with his top surgery fund

UPDATE- THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR £3000! I have booked in to go to Poland at the end of July so really hoping I can make some more before then!! Thanks so much you so much. My story- I have been waiting since I was 14 to medically transition but due to lack of funding for these services, I have been made to wait. I am still expected to wait possibly years for top surgery referral. If I wait for public, I have been binding for so many years that by the time I reach it, I have the chance to be denied. I have been out since I was 13, I got referred to the Tavistock clinic, by the time I got referred, I was too old for their services. I would like to use this money for top surgery. I have wrote a statement to explain further about it.

No matter who we are, where we live, what we do, there’s always elements of control in our lives that we can’t change. One that we all have in common, no matter how much we may condemn the idea, is our government. You would assume a government would be there to help us. Help us thrive, help us live, help us love. Therefore, it is ultimately confusing when the thing that distress and depresses us the most in our life is at fault of the government. In October 2018, a survey found that only 9% of Tory MPs back self-identification with 69% opposing self-identification. Self-identification is the concept that transgender people can declare their identity without the trails and tribulations of consulting a ‘professional.’ How can anyone, who has usually got no personal experience in gender identity, decide on anyone elses? In the same survery, just over half did not agree the same rights for transgender people and non-transgender people. Eight out of ten expressed ‘concern’ over the number of children waiting to access gender services. How can my reality be of your ‘concern?’ How can the way I feel everytime I get in the shower, leave my house, get my haircut, go clothes shopping, meet new people be of your concern? How can the way that I live bregrudigly in a mind that does not fit the body it’s attached to be of your concern? Thank you for your concern but I don’t need your concern. I only want your concern if it means you’re going to actively put your ‘concern’ into something useful. Your concern should not lie with my identity but how you are constantly underfunding the services which assist me in expressing it. I’m 18 years old. At 9 years old, I cut all my hair off in the mirror and cried to my Dad, asking why I wasn’t the same as all my other mates at school. I came out to myself as soon as I knew what being transgender was and realised there was a word for the battle I’d faced with myself my whole life. I was only 13 when I came out to my friends, family and school as a boy. I was 14 when I got referred to the Tavistock clinic for Young Transgender people. I waited 3 years for my first appointment. By the time I got my first one, I was 17. Too old for their services. They put me on the priority waiting service for The Leeds Gender clinic for adults in February 2018. It will be at least another 2 years for a Top surgery refferal after this. Every letter that comes through the door I hope it is from them. Everyday, I am dissapointed. How am I expected to live with the pain in my chest constantly when I have no hope in services that are meant to help me? The Leeds clinic is funded to help 27 transgender people a month. They recieve way over 100 referrals. There are 7 public gender identiy clinics in the UK and approximately over half a million out transgender people. Yet they still say we are a ‘concern.’ Is it easier to be ignorant to our existence than ignorant to the fact you are making our existence painful? You would assume a government would be there to help us. Help us thrive, help us live, help us love. All they are doing is making it hard for me and millions of other people, for reasons other than gender identity, to thrive, live and love.
