Help fellow needy residents in Nevada County

Donation protected
This past year we did a fundraiser before Christmas and raised funds to help people when there wasn't a alternative solution for many needy residents in our community.

Last year we were involved with the following projects which helped lots of people.

I have kept track of a lot of these "projects" but this list is not a complete summary of the things that were done:

During last years snowmageddon we were able to clear @25 roofs of snow in several different senior facilities/ parks. Many that weren't cleared ended up not longer being in habitable, making these residents homeless.

We have also personally split, seasoned and delivered @60 cords of oak firewood to many older and disabled residents who were not able to get a heat source from organizations such as the Nevada County Senior Firewood Program.
We provided @25 different cars to families that needed to get to work to pay the rent and keep food on the table. This automotive work included providing 12 cars with once again working brakes, and the replacement of vital components such as radiators, alternators, and numerous car side windows for families who's windows were broken, and were living in these cars.

Provided, with the help of several vets, the spaying and neutering of @20 dogs and cats.

The replacement of 2 water heaters, and the rebuilding and fixing of a bunch of house heating systems.

The delivery of @1,300 gallons of gasoline to residents in the Cascade Shores, Red Dog, Banner Mountain and Rattlesnake neighborhoods. Much of this gasoline went to residents who had a 5 gallon can of gas which lasted 2-3 days, yet they in many cases were power deficient for 12-15 days.

Many people also needed supplies such as medicines and food picked up and delivered which was done.

In one case I was able to borrow a friend's truck, horse, and trailer which were used to deliver medicine, propane and foodstuffs 3.5 miles down Valencia off highway 20 thru 3-4' deep snow.

@60 different driveways were hand shoveled removing snow so that people could get to necessary outings.

Pulled numerous cars back onto roadways after problematic weather.

Removed numerous problematic wildlife from living spaces, insuring that people and 4 legged family members would be safe as well as said wildlife.

Removed, and occasionally euthanized 4 legged wildlife that had been gravely injured and left in people's front yard, door step, blocking access.

Placed 32 families into rebuilt donated trailers /RV's removing these people from homelessness, and putting them into a safe, secure, warm living space. Many of these recipients were able to be placed into longterm accommodations, returning these trailers/RV'S into housing for another needy family.

Occasional necessities such as providing clean proper clothing for a 4H member to show their animal at the fair, or a set of clothes so that the young adult can attend important family get togethers when they only have one set of clothes.

The acquisition, delivery and connection of household equipment such as a washer and dryers so that the young family isn't spending $125 a month cleaning clothes /diapers.

Replaced tire/tires on @8 cars for low income families, providing safe transportation.

The vast majority this work has been completed through volunteer efforts, or with the help of generous other community members.

We spend much much more than is graciously gifted, but these funds do help and allow this work to continue.
