Help Fernando with leukemia

I am asking for your support for my good friend and chosen family Fernando, a 35-year-old artist living in Los Angeles who has recently been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).

Unfortunately, Fernando's diagnosis with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) has left him unable to support himself as he battles this life-threatening illness. He is currently undergoing two different chemotherapies, which will leave him weak and fatigued, making it difficult for him to work and support himself financially.

The road ahead for Fernando is long and uncertain, as the potential duration of his treatment could span years. He will need ongoing medical care, which will include hospital stays, regular blood transfusions, and numerous medications.

At the age of 35, the outlook for Fernando's AML diagnosis is complex. While some people with AML have successful outcomes, others may not be so fortunate. The 5-year overall survival rate for AML is 29.5 percent, according to the National Cancer Institute (NCI). Treatment for AML can be challenging, and the side effects of chemotherapy can be severe, some common side effects and symptoms of chemotherapy Nausea and vomiting, Fatigue and weakness, Hair loss, Loss of appetite, Mouth sores, Diarrhea or constipation, Bleeding or bruising easily due to a low platelet count impacting the patient's quality of life, Neuropathy (numbness, tingling, or pain in the hands and feet), Increased risk of infection due to a weakened immune system and Anemia.

Fernando is a kind and talented individual who has always pursued his passion for art. However, his life has been turned upside down with this unexpected diagnosis. As you may know, cancer treatment can be financially burdensome, and Fernando is currently facing significant medical expenses. With handling coverage from American health insurance, housing, treatment and just general living expenses Fernando needs help.
