At Fieldmouse Press, we’ve always believed in the power of stories. From day one, we’ve worked tirelessly to bring new voices, unique perspectives, and powerful narratives to life. Our goal has always been simple — to expand the reach of the art of comics by publishing beautiful, challenging, and delightful books.
However, recent trade announcements in the United States have dramatically changed our ability to publish books, and we need your support to keep the presses running and continue creating books that matter.
The Challenge We’re Facing:
Fieldmouse Press prints books in the United States, Canada, and China. Our Winter 2025 Season was printed in China, and is currently on its way to our warehouse. The books are already printed, and due to be delivered in late April. Now, due to a sudden and sharp increase in tariffs on all imported goods from China, the cost of getting these books to you has skyrocketed in a way we feared but hoped would never happen. We must now pay an additional 54% tariff on these books, which is a massive cost increase. As a small publisher, we do not have the financial reserves to absorb these unexpected costs. This increase in tariffs has put a strain on our ability to continue publishing the books you love and rely on.
We are committed to maintaining the quality of our books, supporting our talented authors, and making sure you, our loyal readers, get the books you’ve been eagerly waiting for. But we can’t do it without your help.
How Your Donation Will Help:
The funds raised will directly go towards covering the increased costs of paper, printing, and shipping—expenses that have increased by up to 54%. Your contributions will help us:
- Cover the costs of unexpected tariff bills: In order for our books to get through customs, we need to raise a far larger sum of money than we previously thought we would need.
- Cover the increase in printing costs: Every book we produce will cost significantly more, and your support will allow us to keep our prices reasonable without sacrificing quality.
- Support our authors: Many of the authors we work with are independent and rely on us for fair royalties and the ability to see their books in print. Your help will allow us to continue supporting them during this uncertain time.
- Keep books affordable and accessible: We strive to keep our books reasonably priced for our readers, and your contributions will help us maintain that commitment even in the face of rising costs.
