Help Fight Cancer supporting Darius Hedspeth
Donation protected
On Tuesday, January 30th my son Darius was hit twice in the groin during his school basketball game. The following day he went to the doctor after experiencing some pain. He was immediately referred to a Urologist who performed an ultrasound and CT scan which resulted in surgery that Friday to remove a tumor the size of an orange, covered in cancer.
Darius has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma.
A series of tests are scheduled and another surgery will be performed prior to chemotherapy to see if any of the cancer has spread. The Oncology group in Austin is working on getting Darius into MD Anderson in Houston for chemotherapy and further treatments.
With that said, we will be traveling back and forth to Houston for the unseen future. Financially, this will take a toll that nobody can prepare for. Daily expenses will include: hospital stays, medical treatments, medications, hotel stays, food, transportation and most importantly, lost wages which will have the greatest impact.
Darius, somehow has remained so positive through all of this. He is a phenomenal athlete with dreams of playing basketball in college and is a hard working student who maintains his grades and works hard for what he wants. He is a loyal son, grandson, brother, cousin, nephew and friend. Those who know him are the lucky ones.
We humbly ask that you find it in your hearts to donate. Any amount is appreciated. Please keep Darius and our family in your prayers as we embark on this difficult journey.
