HELP FIGHT KYNDLE BRAIN DISEASE MOYA MOYA SHE NEEDS SURGERY

Hi my name is Melissa and I am Kyndles mom as some of you may know she was recently diagnosed with a very rare brain disease called Moya Moya disease. We recently got approved to see one of the number one specialist doctors that deals primarily with this disease Moya Moya. His name is Dr. Steinberg his Moya Moya clinic is at Stanford Medical Center. We had our first consultation with him on April 15th where he went over all her scans from Kasier since back in 2017. We found out that since 2018 is when she should of been diagnosed with is disease also we found out she has been having Mini Strokes since then which Kaiser never told us about they just said it was unknown white matter on her brain.

After going over all the scans Dr. Steinberg said she needs surgery on her right side of her brain sooner than later due to the blood flow from her cardiac artery up to her brain is completely blocked. Which is causing her Mini Strokes and could cause a major stroke or seizures or blood bleeds. Her left side of her brain also shows presents of the disease but it still has some blood flow so for now she will continue to be monitored for the left side to progress due to this disease is a progressive disease and no medication will help slow down or cure this disease only surgery can help.

The surgery she needs is a direct bypass as well as an indirect bypass. The doctor will use a good blood vessel and cut and attach it to the bad part of the cardiac artery to make the blood flow again, that is the direct part and then after that he will lay blood vessels on the scalp which will grown and attach itself over 6 months in time. She will be in ICU for 1 day and the hospital 2 days. After that we have to stay for her one week check up where they will do another MRI to make sure the surgery worked.

We are doing this go fund me which we really didn’t want to do but after looking up hotels and Air bnb for 11 days is very expensive. The reason it is 11 days is because we have to go up Sunday before surgery to be there on Monday for her Pre OP which will be another kind of brain scan and blood work then Tuesday will be surgery on May7th. Which then her 1 week post OP appointment for more scans and we have to wait till the next day before we can leave for the results.
