Help fight the Refugee Ban Bill
Donation protected
The government’s so-called “Illegal Migration Bill” is a serious and vicious attack on some of the most vulnerable people in our society. The rhetoric that accompanies it is a dangerous catalyst for the resurgence of a racist and violent far-right.
In flagrant violation of international conventions on refugee and human rights, the bill would mean anyone who arrived by small boat would automatically have their asylum claim dismissed, despite the fact there are no safe routes available, and that research shows the majority of asylum cases would be granted were they to be considered.
After being detained for 28 days, refugees including children and victims of modern slavery will be removed either to their own country or a “safe third country,” such as Rwanda.
Fascist organisations like Patriotic Alternative have adopted Home Secretary Suella Braverman’s “invasion of the southern coast” inflammatory rhetoric as a slogan on which to mobilise, with riots and anti-refugee mobilisations taking place across the country where asylum seekers are being housed.
This appalling Bill, the inflammatory racist rhetoric of the government and the rise in the far-right can only be stopped by serious mobilisations of anti-racists.
Over the coming weeks and months, we want to build our campaigning work to:
- Build on the inspiring mobilisations against the Refugee Ban Bill outside Parliament and Downing street with further protests bringing the outrage of anti-racists at this bill to MPs, Peers and the Government.
- Bring together campaigners, human rights organisations, charities and parliamentarians to speak out with one voice against the Bill and the racist rhetoric of the government in events and social media campaigns.
- Mobilise against the racist far-right wherever they seek to whip up racism and intimidate refugees.
We can only do this with your support. Please give generously to help us reach our target, and share this fundraiser with your friends.
