Help Fight This Tumour 2023

Hello My Name is Jenelle Vaneltsi I am 19 years old, Tetlit Gwichin, born and raised in a Small Community called Fort McPherson, Northwest Territories,Canada.

I am very active and was a healthy young lady who loved to play soccer, dance, drive my Skidoos and I am also an apart of the “Teltit gwich’in dancers.” I enjoy being out on the land and practicing my Culture and love to have fun with my sisters J’lyn, Jathena and all my friends up until last spring. I got very sick and was Medivac to Edmonton,AB (3030.4 km away from home.)

I was losing weight, having very bad headaches and was so sick to even hold any foods down. This Spring again I got medivac to Edmonton. I was then diagnosed with “Adamantinomatous Craniopharyngioma.” Which is a very rare tumour in my brain.

I went through the first part of Brain surgery June 5th, 2023 in Edmonton, AB and since been going back and forth for check ups.

I have to start radiation very soon between now and october 2023, we are just waiting for travel arrangements,which I will be getting sent to Jacksonville, Florida US (7343 km away from home) I may have to pay for a portion of my meals transportation and accommodations and any further expenses that may arise during the stay.

My (Jijuu) Grandmother Wanda Pascal will be my escort and helping me through my Appointments which will be morning and night every two days of Radiation therapy at the UF health Proton therapy institute in Jacksonville Florida.

My family support Network consist primarily of My Mother Jennilee Vaneltsi, sisters J’lyn and Jathena Vaneltsi and baby sister Blake Vaneltsi. My Grandparents Wanda and Douglas Pascal and numerous family members and friends.

We are hoping this fundraiser will help on my behalf and seen by many new friends and acquaintances and anyone else that may help me fight this Brain Tumour battle.
