My mom Rafaela has been dealing with debilitating and excruciating headaches since March of 2006. 13 years of being in pain 24/7. The chronic headaches include occipital neuralgia, cluster headaches, traveling migraines, dystonia, unbalanced brain and spasmodic torticollis. They say her brain swells, causing her to hurt. The pain never leaves.
As you can imagine she also suffers from chronic depression and has other health issues including fibromyalgia. She can't live a normal life. In her words "I don't live, I just exist". She had to leave her job that she loved, where she worked for 17 years and go on disability.
She has seen many specialists, tried countless medications and painful treatments to no avail. She can't recall how many different doctors she has seen. Unfortunately none of them care enough to try to pinpoint what is wrong with her and how to fix it. We need to find doctors who are willing to fight to find answers and a cure for her.
The closest Mayo Clinic is in Arizona. Her current insurance most likely won't pay for her doctor visits or tests they will have to do, because it's out of state. She managed to get an appointment for October 29, 2019.
My mom is one of the kindest most caring people that I know. She worked extremely hard as a single mother of 2 to give us the best life she could. It kills us that we can't do anything to relieve her pain even just a little bit. We want to help her but unfortunately we can't afford it either. The downpayment for the first visit is a minimum of $700 up to $3,000. We don't know how many visits it will take but after so many years with no real answers, we're guessing it will take quite a bit of visits.
